Amazing Grace: Hard Work Pays off
Event Date: 14th December, 2024 - 6:30pm
Event Location: Hamburg, Germany
Christmas comes early for Grace Goody as she is crowned two time Pro-Am K1 European Champion in Hamburg, Germany. Quicker than Santa and his reindeers on Christmas Eve, Grace commanded the opening round of a much anticipated bout on away territory leaving no doubt that she was here to create an upset for the home crowd. Her K1 skills left Anastasia Mikhalova on the back foot in round one and she had to regroup before the second round began. The middle rounds of the fight were close and involved both fighters vying for success in the clinch. With the bell sounding for the final round, Goody and Mikhalova came out fighting with Grace showing relentless determination to travel back home with a new belt for Christmas.
Amazing Grace: Grace’s triumph is not just a personal victory; it's a lesson for anyone in pursuit of excellence. Demonstrating that consistency and hard work pay off, the 22-year-old secures another European title.
It was five years ago to the day that Grace was crowned K1 champion in Japan and now in the space of four months has been crowned double K1 European Champion in both Berlin and Hamburg. A wonderful end to 2024 for Grace and we look forward to what 2025 will bring!
The Main Event Match: Our very own Dan Braniff topped the bill in a World Title contest in front of a crowd of 2000 fight fans. He was not fazed by the electric home support for his opponent, Drazen Maksimovic, and went toe to toe in the first round behind his jab and low
leg kicks. As the bout continued, the German’s fight experience shone through with devastating boxing causing Braniff to take a count in both the second and third rounds. Nevertheless, Dan with grit and determination kept showing that he wasn’t there to give up easily and continued to work his roundhouse kicks to both the legs and body of his opponent. However, with another knockdown in the fourth round, coach Murray stopped the fight to protect his fighter.
It wasn’t Dan’s day to claim the world championship, but his coach, Billy Murray, is confident his time will come. At just 26 years old, Dan is already the reigning WKN European champion, and with his relentless hard work and consistency, the future looks bright. This setback is just a stepping stone—Dan’s moment to shine will come
