World title opponent change will not deter Jay Snoddon

At the 11th hour, before Jay’s world title fight on the 11th day of the 11th month, Richard Homer, the challenger, has fallen victim to Covid. The WKN have worked extremely hard over the last 24 hours to ensure that Jay has a suitable opponent to make his title defence.
Before Belfast's Jay Snoddon highly anticipated world title defence scheduled for November 11th, Richard Homer, the challenger, has unfortunately contracted Covid-19, rendering him unable to compete.
At the 11th hour, before Jay’s world title fight on the 11th day of the 11th month, Richard Homer, the challenger, has fallen victim to Covid. The WKN have worked extremely hard over the last 24 hours to ensure that Jay has a suitable opponent to make his title defence.
Fighting out of Chimosa Gym, Berlin, 25 year old, Abdullah Al-Rajab has jumped at the chance of a World Title fight. The WKO European champion (southpaw) has a fight record of 16 fights, 12 wins and 4 losses. He will come hungry to cause a big upset in his home city this Saturday.
Homer and his team were desperate to get a rematch after Snoddon defeated him in May to be crowned World Champion. The rematch was contingent on Homer beating French fighter, Tousch for the WKN European title that Snoddon previously held. He did this successfully by a kick KO in September and the World Title fight was on for Germany. However, at the last minute, Homer has withdrawn with illness. Here ends the long standing duel between Jay Snoddon and Richard Homer.
Undeterred, Jay marches on. “Onto the next challenger, my goal remains the same. I’ve a world title to defend and that’s what I intend to do.” stated Snoddon, as he has the night off from ProKick and is resting before he started his travels to Germany with coach Billy Murray.
Billy Murray stated “If there is any upside to this situation, it’s that there still is a fight happening and an opponent has been found. In the fight game, this is an eventuality that can happen. In fact, I remember back in 1989, I was due to defend my ISKA title against Andre Alban from France at the Ulster Hall, but he injured himself the day before he was to travel to Belfast. I’ll never forget having to stand outside the Ulster Hall and let people know that there was no fight. Thank you to WKN for getting a last minute opponent and to Abdullah for taking the fight. To Germany we go with the belt, and we intend to come home again with it.”
