Day 4 – ProKick Black Belt Grading

December 18, 2025

The Super Seven were back in action at the ProKick Gym for Day 4 of the Black Belt grading week. All candidates arrived early for the 6:00pm class, straight into stretching and warm-ups, fully focused and ready for the evening’s grading practice. Every student in attendance was preparing for Sunday’s graduation, and the Super Seven took pride of place on the front line.

The session began with a recap of the first four syllabus levels. For experienced Brown Belts, this should be as simple as ABC or 1-2-3. These techniques haven’t just been drilled for weeks — they’ve been trained for years. They are ingrained, automatic, and reflected in the natural flow of movement across the floor.

The three junior candidates worked separately on their kicking syllabus, while the rest of the team focused on clinch control and knee striking — refining balance, posture, and pressure.

7:00pm – Senior Class
The 7:00pm class was a senior Green Belt and above session. With minimal warm-up, the class moved straight into action and syllabus review. After revisiting fundamentals and core techniques, the focus shifted to self-defence — covering attacks from every conceivable angle: front, rear, and centre.

Final Session – Pressure & Reflection
In the final class of the night, the candidates were instructed to refer back to their notebooks and reassess key lessons learned throughout the week. The team revisited circle training — an area the Head Coach & examiner, Billy Murray, was not fully satisfied with earlier in the grading.

Mark took centre ring first, with Jay, Reuben, and Max applying relentless pressure. Ten minutes of nonstop action followed: three attackers rotating constantly, angles changing, pace increasing. This drill simulates real-life chaos — full gear on, no predictability, controlling space while defending against punches, kicks, and grabs.

"The improvement was clear. Much better. Well done."

That brings Day 4 to a close for the Super Seven as they continue their pursuit of one of the highest accolades in martial arts — the ProKick Black Belt.

Fuel up. Rest. Repeat.

⏰ Back in the gym tomorrow at 6:30am to do it all again.
